Shirley Brasil's Biography

Shirley Brasil was born in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais State) Brazil, in 1969. For many years she worked as an architect, but after graduation she realized that painting was so important to her, she had to give it a try. Shirley is now a full-time artist, and her distinctive technique is displayed in many Fine Art galleries throughout Brazil. Brasil’s leaf paintings are more than just `still-life` portraits. They are a bold, sensuous, and very personal exploration of one of Nature’s most seen, but least appreciated gifts. The idea began many years ago, when she collected leaves and pressed flowers inside the pages of old books. Seldom portrayed as subjects in painting, Shirley’s leaves are alive with soft and imaginative colors - presented in a wide range of textures and shapes
