Clive Jachnik's Biography
An Anglo-Polish artist trained in Glasgow Scotland, Clive is a follower of the 'Scottish Colorist' tradition of painters first established in the early 20th century there. The influence of Scottish artists such as Morrocco, Cunningham and Orr can be seen in his bold use of color, free brush strokes and strong compositions.
For the past twenty years, Clive's work has consistently dealt with the simplicity found in the traditional subject matter of still life and landscape paintings. Similarly, extensive travels throughout the world and his treatment of outdoor market, harbor and beach scenes promote the feeling of a certain 'joie-de-vive'. Clive has received two traveling bursaries from the Arts Council of the United Kingdom and his work can be found in public and private collections worldwide. A regular exhibitor at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Clive was elected an Artist member of the Paisley Art Institute in 1997.
